New song called "What she's been Missin"

My good friend Robert James Gilligan came out to La this week to visit me from back east, we use to be roommates back in 2008 when i lived on a sail boat in marina del ray.  Good times we had then! and good times this week partying and going to shows...  Just like old times, today was a great day cause' we wrote a county tune called "What she's been missin".... check out the lyrics below.... plus a mp3 coming soon!!!

-Much love. Jaime Dirty

Words and Music by: Robert James Gilligan & Jaime Sol Black

Everyone I love has another
I’m tired of just bein their friends
Maybe down the line
One will see what she’s missin
driftin’ away from my heart

Sun rises in my hometown and sets where I’m bound
For a girl in el paso
At her door was my old friend thin jimmy james
And he said I was too late for they married today

Got a call from a new love On my way out
With an Invitation
So I flew out to La to see her perform
We made love in the back room until early morn

When her boyfriend walked into the room
And chased me away with a broom

Hopped a train up to san fran and went to the mission
Felling uneasy
Should I call up the woman I loved in big bend
Who had moved out near Berkley after kissing my friend

No I’ll by me some whisky instead
And I’ll stay here and drink til I’m dead

New News

Simone Mountain has been creating a new Dirty Suits youtube channel. Being of the younger generation, it is certain that she knows more then everyone in the band combined about this sort of thing! We just wanted to say thank you Simone for a job well done!

We would also like to welcome Aron Cowen as conga drummer in residence.

Hello Echo has a new album.

Hello Echo, who the Dirty Suits have been playing shows with the last couple years, have a new self titled album. Produced by Jaime Sol Black's brother Jeremy, it's really awesome. They started out with an impromptu gig in Baja Mexico about 5 years ago and now have a very solid body of work. The entire album flows seamlessly through all of the emotions of the human psyche and leaves you ready to replay it again at the end. I'm extremely proud, though not surprised that these guys have created such a masterpiece. Hurry up and get it:

IMPROMPTU

Me and Jaime were super stoked to try out 3 new songs today with Elisa.
She gives such a huge lift to our playing. Our spirits fly with her beats, summoning
the songs to come alive. We left rehearsal to go play late night paddle tennis
and then played a short set at the Basement after an interesting band called
'Blue Eyed Son.' Looking forward to the show @ Trip Bar on
Thursday.

(HUMBLE)

© 2010 The Dirty Suits
Words by Jaime Sol Black
Music by The Dirty Suits

A true blue dame
I trust yea humble
Don’t run your mind away
With sorrow

My world is a safe haven
I trust the ones who love
Give your self, motivation
She knows my role, in this world
I Know this dames goal

I know an angel,
she trust yea humble
Taught me, what I never knew
Gave me a clue
When you can trust
You can Love

I walk through the gates of Zion
My true love is under my arm
Keeping my sprit alive
My heart is a beating
As she, makes my evil subside
As she, rides me into the sun

Keep your eyes, wide open
And watch your, thoughts
Know who your, talking to
And Always keep your, love with you

Hey little darling
We got a humble trust
Hey little darling
We got a humble love
Hey little darling
We got a humble trust
Hey little darling
We got a humble love
Keeping your heart a beating

A true collaboration about "Easy Love"

Jaime Sol Black and Jeremy Ferrick, collaborated on this tune during a late night Dirty Suits rehearsal. Their hope was to bring back the free love sprite of 1969! When times were simpler and animal magnetism was in the air........

Easy Love

Words by: Jeremy-Lazar Ferrick, & Jaime Sol Black
Music by: The Dirty Suits

Easy Love
Where do you hide out
By the train tracks
Rainin’ on me like a cinnamon cloud
What happened to free love, 1969
Why?
do you make me have to wine and dine?

I know you want
What I want
When I want it
You know you need it

Its so easy yea yea

I know you what
What I want
When I want it
You know you need it
Its easy yea yea

Do you remember the theater
On Seward street I believe it was called ‘unknown.’
You pulled me over and kissed me and kissed me
Before I new it. my mind was blown.
I need it every night and honey every morning
It’s the way my heart stays alive-
Some people they like eating
Some people they like hunting
don’t you know I was made to love love love
Love love love love love
Love love love love love

Do you remember Baltimore, giving me head
On Eger Allan Poe’s grave
You were the raven and the maven missbehavin’ is what im craving
In the moon light

Do you remember, Karaoke @ the gas light
I sang your favorite song
You sang van halen, jumped up on the bar
Pulled me close and made me
Feel like a star

I know you want
What I want
When I want it
You know you need it

Its so easy yea yea

I know you what
What I want
When I want it
You know you need it
Its so easy yea yea

I know you want
What I want
When I want it
You know you need it

Its so easy yea yea

I know you what
What I want
When I want it
You know you need it
Its so easy yea yea

Took me by surprise when you took me in
And gave me a new home
You were my best friend
And that will never die
Keeping a close watch over you
Don’t you ever cry

Black is the color of heaven
Heaven is the color of me
Unconditionally and love

Don’t you worry love
You still have your friends
I may be gone
still singing our song
ever lasting love
and I’ll be watching you
from the sky’s above

Black is the color of heaven
Heaven is the color of me
Unconditionally and love

You gave me a new life
I gave you a new piece of you

new piece of You
new piece of You
new piece of You

Black and white spot
Will protect you my friend

And I

Woke up, its 3 am
In my apartment,
Rue Edouard Manet
The rest of the world is a sleep
And sweets dripping off of me
Like a bad bad dream
Visions of you on a Sunday afternoon
Hunting me, like a ghost
Searching for revenge
Searching for revenge

Your with a new guy
I am just a tail to tell
Hello Goodbye
it true, are we are really through
I still love you

Now I’m up
Before the sun
New day rising
Let us live it like we’re dieing
We’re have you gone
Are you having fun
Suns coming up
Got to run out the door
Can’t be weak
Tuff it up
I said tuff it up
Whoooh tuff it up

I hope you got your beauty sleep

Baby oh baby oh baby yea baby
Why’d you go, don’t you need me
Cause I’m telling no lie
That I need you
If I am gone tomorrow
Would you mourn just a friend
Or your one and only love

Tuff it up
I said tuff it up
Whoooh tuff it up

I hope you got your beauty sleep

"I only want the best (for you)"

words by Jeremy Lazar Ferrick
Music by The Dirty Suits

She flew
away, like ill gotten gain.
She stayed around
till there was pain.
People like to take it easy
no one wants to hang it tough
But when the going gets going
Enough is enough.

chorus
i've been down so long
that it don't even matter any more 2X

Took me a long time to learn this lesson well
You don't have to keep everything that comes
Don't have to live in hell
sometimes it's easier to stay put
then to move along
Sometimes it's safer
to be wrong.

Chorus

You can take the high road
or settle
for what's left
& Thank them
for all of
the crumbs they threw
I only want the best
for you

Chorus
What are you waiting for? When there's nothing left lose.
Don't you know it's up to you, all these decisions that you choose.

The Dirty Suits in the words of John Calderwood:

"Out of desperation and chance, two creative forces came  to create some of the most soulfull and rocking tunes the masses of this divided city have ever heard- scavaging together the best grouping of threads they could, they took  Los angeles by storm.
With nothing more than some hand me down instruments and a knack for style, the bastard child of Johnny Cash and the Beatles was born. They ain't pretty, and they sure don't belong.
but the stains on their suits scream of tried and true rock and roll-
ladies and gentlemen, these are the Dirty Suits.
The name, well it speaks for itself."

The Dirty Suits Get LUCKY.

What do you mean?  You say. How are the Dirty Suits getting lucky?  I don't know. Impromptu late night radio jams. New spunky people helping get our songs out there, like our  Manager Jill Fleischman.  New songs coming out of the air.  Recordings of songs that appear radio ready and ready for shrink wrap and CD cases. Oh did I mention our new single 'astro motel' is now on itunes, amazon, and a lot of other music sites?
We had a nice set at the Good Hurt Friday night.  Steven Martini, Terence Leclere, and Christopher Motyka, our friends from the bands Spaceship Martini and Ric Veda, showed up. So did Kathleen Wirt and Chris Mullings from 4th St. Studio.  Oh, make sure to call Kroq on Sunday nights and ask them to play 'astro' for the locals only show.

Our Single:

astro motel

a song by Jeremy Ferrick

she moved into the astro
it was a second class motel
where the owner was well adapted
at how to put her through hell
walls paper thin
the neighbors often yelled
you'd have been better off
half a mile down the street
at a place called the wishing well
down the avenue santa rosa
she got a job cuttin' hair
times were tight
most of the time she
was sittin' in the ez chair
after bout a week she wanted
to get get out of there
when antonia told her the news
she acted like she didn't even care.
funny how,
She said, i used to be the one to scoff
at the lady who i look like today
better watch out who you're laughing at honey
just might be you
some day.
Used to think that i was invincible
Some misplaced joan of ark-
here i am now with a baby by my side
and i'm living in juilliard park.
me and burpo were laughing
we didn't get to where we were going to
he stopped laughing, looked me in the eye.
What are you lookin' at? man?
he said, you.
ya think you're pretty
clever, you think you're pretty smart
better watch out if
you wanna be a work of art

walkin' and i'm walkin' and i'm waitin'
watchin' and i'm watchin' hesitatin 2x

She's doin' a little better now
got a house down on grand avenue
She doesn't have
the same kind of problems
she used to have
a year ago or two.

She works down at the center
She's helpin' the strong
she's helpin' the weak
i got one goal, she said,
gonna try to be good to
everyone i meet.

walkin' and i'm walkin' and i'm waitin'
watchin' and i'm watchin' hesitatin 2x

KIbitz Room

There was a late night reunion for The Dirty Suits at Canter's Kibitz room last night/ this morning.  We played a pretty short set, maybe 7 or so songs to bring in the Lunar Eclipse.  This is the time of year for new beginnings, and we are excited about new songs and the fact that the beach is warm enough to swim in without a wetsuit.  There will be sports, good times, and most of all music, sweet music to be made this summer.  Join in the great party with us.
Next Friday we will be doing a very short set at The Talking Stick in Venice, to warm up for the show at the Viper Room the following Tuesday, 7/6.  Hope to see you all there in your suits.

Dirty Suits record 'astro motel,' at 4th Street Recording in Santa Monica.

Crazy how you can write a song and then a decade later bring it to your band who breathe life into it. Jaime added his production touches and great rhythm guitar and backup vocals, Chris had his magnificent succulent leads and Elisa powerhouses us through with her soulful machine steady grooves.
Kathleen Wirt, the owner of the studio, was extremely helpful in working with our budget needs and providing a comfortable space in which to work. We definitely will be using the studio again. I forsee it being our 'home away from home' in the future and strongly recommend it to other musicians out there.
Our engineer Chris was a genius, extremely knowledgeable, cordial, and helpful in getting a sound that fit our vision of the song. The studio interns were extremely helpful, thanks to Joe, Angel, and Ryan for their expertise, professionalism, and friendly personalities. We can't wait to come back and record more.

The Dirty Suits get called into duty

I Played solo tonight @ o'briens Irish pub to promote for the dirty suits this Thursday night for my 26th birthday show....  & it was amazing!  i played to like, maybe 5 people in the back room and mid set had everyone in the room shouting and clapping in sink to my acoustic guitar and voice, it felt like 500 people... had everyone singing along to "What She Said" and of course "Ring of Fire"!  Plus i met some bad ass marines off duty who i think are Dirty Suit fanz for life now and also a really cool Cali gal who said she  was born over sea's and irish.  A really fun night ether way, and one hell of a great show!  I can not wait for The Dirty Suits  "call of duty tour" for all our brothers and sister serving our great nation.

The Dirty Suits Love KXLU.

"The cool thing about KXLU's Demolisten show was if you were a local band you could just call in, request your song and if you went down there, they would interview you... I was listening to KXLU all day long because that's where all the good music was. The rest of the world was out of it."- Perry Farrell

This is perfect proof that KXLU is one of the greatest college radio stations on the planet. The Dirty Suits played there for liveation last month and we'll be playing there again next month for Jaime's Birthday.

The Dirty Suits Salute and Thank Kat Griffin at KCSN.

Thank You Kat Griffin for playing us on 88.5FM KCSN.  Kat's show is a blend of Americana Rock n' Roll, and she specializes in playing the best of  up and coming bands in Los Angeles every Saturday after noon.  Last Saturday, she was doing a small spot light on punk bands and she featured Jaime's song "got no cense" off of his first album (ready for trouble) which is pre- dirty suits, so big salute to her again because after the song was done she concluded with "if you go to rustys surf ranch on friday may 28th, that is what you will here"...  We love being played on your radio show- it makes us feel like you're giving us a big hug and we really appreciate it.

go on to www.kcsn.com or call (818) 677-3090 and request one of our tunes that you feel Kat should also play, after all KCSN is "the music YOU want" and if you request Jeremy's blues ballad "bull fighter" maybe she will pass it on to Ann the Raven's blues on Saturday night right after Kat's show.

Testing Testing Testing

Sorry all, I've been a bit busy lately and have been neglecting my blogging duties. Currently working for the Census Bureau helping the Government to get a proper count of our great City. We the Dirty Suits are currently getting ready for some Summer gigs, including Jaime's Birthday gig at O'briens which will then be followed up by a late night visit to KXLU. That's going to be a real hootenanny, and you all are invited to come with us to the studio and make some noise. This month we're keeping our nose to the grindstone, working on some new songs, and getting ready for Rusty's SurfRanch the 28th.
Warm Regardz,
Jeremy Blue

Dannys Bar

Last Friday, Johnny ‘Flyn' Lion’ Abbie Mitchell invited us down to showcase a couple of songs. We had our brand new drummer Elisa Suarez on board, as well as Christopher Alice on lead guitar. First I did my brand new song ‘down so long’ by my lonesome. Jaime graciously handed my his guitar and said to the crowd, ‘let Jeremy Ferrick warm your hearts and make love to your brains with his new song.’ Or something very Jaime-esque like that.
Then we launched into ‘Ring of fire’ and a few of our originals. Johnny joined us onstage during ‘Bullfighters. He shared vocals with both me and Jaime. Afterwards he declared, ‘I’ve been wanting to do that for a year.” It was a good vibe at Danny’s. Edizen from Venice Papparrazzi was snapping shots. The pics are now online.

Till next time, Danny’s.

The Dirty Suits up north, on the radio KZSC!

We wrapped up a killer show at the Unknown Theater the other night in Hollywood, and then hit the road shortly after with Marshawn Mack (acting tour manager) driving all night and arriving at 9 am in Santa Cruz to then play a set on "Saddle Up, Partner" on KZSC College radio. DJ Moonshine and DJ Grand Pappy were very welcoming and low key having a blast doing what they love, so a very deserved thank you to them is in order. We set up, with two acoustic guitars! One being used by Jeremy as a bass and Dan setting up his amp laying down the leads, our fill in drummer who was traveling with us on this tour, who's name is not important, decided it was more important to sleep then to play music on the radio... We kicked off what we would like to call a very playful set with dj moon shine rocking the shakers and dancing to every tune and In between asking Jeremy and Jaime band question about how the band was formed and story's of our past!

We talk about our beginning, practicing in Marshawn's house and Venice beach busking story's which concluded with Jeremy smashing guitars on the boardwalk, along with giving our very thankful shout outs to all the people who have supported the dirty suits through out the years.... All and all it was a great time playing on the radio waves of KZSC! we are very much are looking forward, to our next show on the station w/ Dj Moon Shine and Grand Pappy. If you live in the Santa Cruz area, and would like to hear The Dirty Suits on your Radio... Please call em up and request us any time of the day.

(DJ Moon Shine)

(Dirty Martini split 10")

A few months back Steve Martini and Jaime Sol Black decided that it would be wicked cool to release a vinyl record. The Dirty Suits and The SpaceShip Martini together on a 10" vinyl with a digital download card. The record was release on new years eve 2010 @ the unknown theater and it was one hell of a party! Hitting the stage at 11pm and counting down to the new year, during the end jam of "Happy Again" w/ Kerry Anne Aldridge sliding down a stripper pole at the start of 10 and champagne flying off stage, with everyone in the room rushing the stage at mid-night thus making this new years one to never be forgotten! We also had COMPLIMENTARY CHAMPAGNE at the door, a open fully stocked bar, PERFORMANCES BY: THE DIRTY SUITS, THE SPACESHIP MARTINI, DJ TERENCE LECLERE & KYLE INGLEMAN, plus Tattoos and Piercings by: Robert Bukofzer, Robert Dominguez & Jeff Gambozi.

The Record is now available on iTunes and also at shows! so buy your copy today...
